The Great Boundless Compassionate Heart of Zen

Don't think you've fallen from the practice of Zen
just because you suddenly feel sad
when someone says you're not Enlightened yet
or get angered by somebody insulting you,
or feel hurt when contradicted on Buddhist Doctrine.

Just look blazingly into "who"
is feeling sad,
getting angry,
or feeling hurt.
"Who" is it, right now?
This is the steep Zen path.
But it is also the summit of Zen.

You're right there, always,
like green bamboo,
or flowing water,
or a great blue mountain,
splendid and clear,
spontaneously real and perfected,
dwelling like Avalokitesvara
right in the Great Boundless Compassionate Heart of Zen.
